Davy Wright

Davy Wright

Most at home in the outdoors, preferably on top of something big and pointy. Scotland is Davy's playground, which is why he doesn’t mind getting wet. But winter is where it’s at. Hiking, scrambling, camping and a bit of climbing when I can. Sucker for a ridge. At a lower altitude he try getting out on his bike and run if he has to.

Davy describes himself as "a bit of a gear geek, maybe less of the bit. I like to see how things work or don’t!" In following this line Davy has become a respected and authoritative blogger over the last few years, working with many of the UK's major manufacturers and retailers.

Preferred activities: Hillwalking, camping, scrambling, trying to get better at climbing/ice climbing, cycling/mountain biking

Areas commonly visited: Lochaber, Cairngorms, Lake District

Q&A with the Magnetic Mountains Team

In the early part of 2016 a Kickstarter campaign started that peaked a lot of interest, especially mine. Here at My Outdoors we even tried to do our bit to help the team get to their target. We were very pleased when it did, I'm sure that the team at Everyfield Productions were a lot more jubilant. Since it’s release in Europe the film has been nominated for a prize at the International Mountain Film Graz, out of 115 films selected.

Jöttnar Magni Mid-layer: Tested & Reviewed

The brand who are conquering giants and bringing us gear to climb, ski and venture with new additions to their range each season, if you haven't heard of them already they are called Jöttnar. They feature heavily in our pages at My Outdoors as I personally believe in the ethos of the brand. We can debate the pricing structure, however, if you look at the work and dedication of the team within Jöttnar and their Pro Team that create hardy mountain specific gear it will sway the debate quite easily.

European Outdoor Film Tour 17/18

The European Outdoor Film Tour  is one of the premium film tours to hit the shores of the UK. It brings together a handful of adventure films and shows them across the UK and Europe.

The foundation of any layering system is the baselayer. Salewa have taken some of Polartec's new next-to-skin fabric and added some of Polygienes  magic to bring the Pedroc.

Aku Serai GTX: Tested & Reviewed

Winter boots that suit our feet are difficult to find. They are expensive and it takes a while for our feet to settle into them, or not. When they don't it's an expensive mistake. When they make it on Ebay or Facebook you'll have lost a few bob.

Elliot Brown Watches: Tested & Reviewed

I have a huge attraction to watches, the usual "go to's" for outdoorsy people have compasses, barometers and even maybe a GPS.

Sun God Renegade Sunglasses: Tested & Reviewed

A lot of brands profess to have created a product that is "Adventure Proof" so here at my Outdoors we like to put that to the test.

Missing In Action

It's been some time since I have put something meaningful on My Outdoors. There has been a couple of reviews but these have been posted as I felt guilty that I haven't got any reviews published of the kit that has been so kindly sent to me by PR companies and brands.
