When I first heard Salomon were bringing their international team to the Lake District for Advanced Week I was excited. That depth of talent coming to the UK, to the home of fell running, this was something unique and unquestionably special. But there was one catch. Although you may be lucky enough to find your heroes out on the fells, Advanced Week is very much behind closed doors.
My partner introduced me to Anna Frost in 2014, when we watched Home on the big screens of Kendal Mountain Festival, treated to the raw emotion often neglected by film makers. A year on, he secretly signed me up to spend a day with Anna and like minded women at the beautiful Visitor Centre in Coed Y Brenin. I felt excited, curious and itching to get away from my desk and surround myself with passionate trail runners.

The National Adventure Awards 2016

Normally adventurers would be found at the top of a mountain, sweating profusely in an Ultra Run or some other amazing fete of endeavour. Instead on an evening in a swanky hotel of my hometown of Glasgow there was gathering of some of the most inspirational people in the outdoors. They found themselves in uncomfortable suits, dresses or kilts, out of their normal shorts, boots or packs their respective adventure discipline dictates. From where I sat they all scrubbed up…
