Top UK film makers and photographers join 1% for the planet scheme

Written by

Coldhouse Collective and LWImages, two of the UK's leading adventure film makers and photographers have both become 1% for the Planet Partners, joining the movement started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia) and Craig Mathews (founder of Blue Ribbon Flies).

In a statement Matt Pycroft, Director of Coldhouse Collective said "Joining 1% for the Planet represents a real milestone in our company history. Coldhouse Collective was first formed when my partner Adrian Samarra and I came up with the idea of creating an outdoor adventure film company whilst working in the depths of Arctic winter in Kulusuk, Greenland in January 2012.

As Coldhouse Collective has grown, so too have the number of locations visited across the globe, teaching us that as an outdoor film production company we have a responsibility to protect the natural environment we love, both as individuals and as an organisation.

We see it as a moral obligation to move towards protecting our fragile world. We're proud of our commitment to donating 1% of our annual turnover to charitable organisations as part of 1% for the Planet.

For the LWimages founder Lukasz Warzecha this has long been one of his personal goals. Writing in his blog Lukasz said “I’ve been lucky to travel to some of the most amazing places on the planet, unique environments that it has been a joy to capture on camera, but it’s also been obvious that those places need protection. That LWimages can now join 1% for the Planet is something I’m proud to do. Founder Yvon Chouinard has been someone I’ve long admired as a climber and as an innovative businessman and environmental advocate so it’s a privilege to contribute to this initiative.

LW Images

We’re proud to announce that LWimages have joined 1% for the Planet, the global environmental network. As a member LWimages will donate 1% of our annual sales to assist with environmental initiatives carried out by our chosen non-profit environmental organisations working with climate change and renewable energy."
