Italian bootmaker Zamberlan is set to become an official partner of Jagged Globe in a deal announced today by Northumberland-based outdoor distributor CDA Ltd. – The Mountain Works.

For over 30 years, Jagged Globe has been at the forefront of planning, organizing and leading mountaineering expeditions and high-altitude treks all over the world. They have a wealth of knowledge and are best positioned to advise their team members on what equipment is required.

Zamberlan has been making superior quality and high-performance footwear for nearly 90 years. They have a wide range of high level Alpine and Himalayan mountaineering boots, which are perfect for climbing and ice climbing in the Greater Ranges.

Jagged Globe is endorsing the use of the Zamberlan 6000 Karka Evo RR on their expeditions. The Karka Evo has the perfect internal microclimate and insulation. The boot has an ultra-resistant shell made of Superfabric® and Microfiber, a technical lacing system, compact design and back side flex notch to help the foot roll. It also has a removable inner bootee with Velcro fastening, which provides exceptional levels of insulation, a double density lightweight PU wedge for cushioning and the new Vibram® Penia outsole with deep lugs for excellent grip. The Karka Evo is automatic crampon compatible, the rigidity being provided by the unique honeycomb structure of Zamberlan’s lightweight Carbon Fiber insole.

Chris Davison, Managing Director of CDA Ltd. – The Mountain Works, says: “Jagged Globe has a responsibility to their customers to provide them with equipment that will take them to the extremes of the planet safely and comfortably. After considering product from all the high-performance mountaineering footwear manufacturers, we are delighted that they selected the Zamberlan Karka Evo. It’s the ideal combination of cutting edge technology and the skill of time served Italian craftsmen.”

Tom Briggs, Marketing Director of Jagged Globe, says: “We had been looking for a replacement for our double boot hire stock and looked at eight different boots from a number of top brands. Double boots have become a lot lighter and whilst they are undoubtedly warmer, in some cases they have become less durable. We needed a boot that was light, warm and would withstand the harsh terrain of mountains like Aconcagua. The Zamberlan Karka Evo oozed craftmanship and quality. The sole has a deep tread and a deep rand wraps around the entire outer boot. The inner boot has a durable sole. There’s a clever lacing system and the boot has a generous, roomy fit, meaning it should fit most people’s feet. Needless to say, we were very impressed with it”.
