inov-8 has bolstered its position at the forefront of all-terrain running product design with two awards at the world’s leading international sports business trade show.ISPO AW16 GoldWinner Large 4c

The AT/C Thermoshell HZ, which is new for autumn/winter this year, was voted best in the performance apparel (outer layers) category by a panel of expert judges and named a 2016/2017 ISPO AWARD GOLD WINNER.

New for spring/summer 2016, inov-8’s Race Ultra Boa® running pack was named a 2016/2017 ISPO AWARD WINNER in the performance accessories category.

Having won a first ISPO award in 2013/2014 and followed it up with three in 2014/2015 and four more in 2015/2016, inov-8’s relentless drive for innovation has now been rewarded with a total of ten ISPO awards in the last four years.

Commentating on the awards, inov-8 founder Wayne Edy said: “To reach double figures in terms of ISPO awards, and to do so in such a short space of time, is a remarkable achievement and a deserved reward for our hard-working team. It marks the start of an exciting 2016 for inov-8 as we look ahead to the opportunities arising from being part of the Descente family.”

The AT/C Thermoshell HZ is the ultimate warmth-to-weight running jacket. Boasting lightweight, packable warmth and superior breathability, it’s perfect for running in cool, changeable trail and mountain conditions, and during all different phases of dynamic and static activity.ATC THERMOSHELL HZM BLACK RED 7471

The use of innovative, super-lightweight Polartec® Alpha® insulation means runners are able to regulate their core body temperature and eliminate the need to shed or add layers while on the move.

Edy said: “The idea was to use the lightest possible insulation to manufacture the ultimate warmth-to-weight ratio running jacket, while in no way compromising on protection. The design team delivered this in one exceptional garment.

“Teaming up with Polartec® was key in this process. Originally used by the US Special Forces who needed a more breathable insulating material for their combat gear, Polartec® Alpha® ensures warmth without weight.

“Using the new lightest 40grm Polartec® Alpha® insulation, we’ve kept weight right down – the men’s jacket weighs just 223g and the women’s 198g – and by combining this with Pertex Quantum® fabric ensured windproof and water resistant protection.”

Also a prize winner at ISPO and available to buy February, the Race Ultra Boa® is an evolution of the award-winning Race Ultra 10, delivering industry-leading pack hydration, compression and comfort for ultramarathon runners.

Placed on either side of the pack, two Boa® dials are within easy reach of the runner. By simply pushing and rotating one or both dials, the runner, while still on the move, can adjust the level of compression placed on a 2-litre H20rizontal reservoir, thus perfectly molding it to his/her back.

This ensures the fluid within the reservoir is held lower and more stable, guaranteeing zero bounce and superior comfort.

James

With a Scout leader for a mother, James was always destined to enter the outdoors world. Cubs, Scouts and Cadets came and went, but it wasn’t until a week’s adventurous training put on by his school CCF in Snowdonia, that his passion was found. A wet and wild week didn’t dampen spirits, and the following year he returned with a friend for a week of walking and climbing in the Ogwen valley. Since then James has taken part in trail marathons, fell races and an ultra marathon, as well as racking up countless miles on his own over the Lakeland Fells. A ML trainee, come rain or shine, he’ll be out there GoPro in hand, capturing his exploits.

Preferred activities: Trail/Road/Fell Running, hill walking, road cycling, wild camping

Areas commonly visited :Peak District, North wales, Lakes.
