Is it possible for a bright yellow jacket to look attractive? I guess it depends on your view. I like to be seen when out running or cycling in the dark.

This is not because I want to draw attention to myself but rather I want other road users to spot me so that they don’t accidentally drive into me. So, in my world, a hi-viz jacket is a very attractive item.

And if the hi-viz clothing is also beautifully designed – and fits well – then that is a bonus. So, I am particularly pleased to have come across the Gore Bike Wear Power 2.0 Thermo Lady Jersey.

Gore make great fitting women’s clothing – for running and cycling – and the Power 2.0 Thermo Lady Jersey easily lives up to the mark. ((Note: Do buy a size bigger than you would normally, though. I wear a medium and I’m usually a size UK10).

The jacket comes in a range of colours but with darker and duller winter days and evenings I decided to go for the full-on brighter than bright neon yellow. If other road users can’t see me wearing this then they need their eyes testing.

Other great features of the Gore Power 2.0 Thermo Lady Jersey

This is a serious winter warmer cycling jacket and perfect as a mid-layer on cold and wet days or as an outer layer on chilly but dry days.

The colour range is stunning including bright blue and red, black and white or white and black, neon yellow and red or red and white. The colourways (other than the full neon version) have neon yellow cuffs for greater visibility. Sizes are from XS to XXL.

In addition details include:

·      Full front zip and underflap

·      Three-compartment pockets on back, as well as a small, zipped pocket

·      Reflective print on front, sleeves and back logo

·      Reflective print on sleeves

·      Partially elastic hem gripper Close fit collar

But what I really, really like is the fabric. It is brushed cosiness on the inside and smooth loveliness on the outside. Gore say the material is “engineered with Thermoregulation”. What this means is that the fabric is great at controlling body temperature to regulating and good at wicking away sweat. It does work. I have worn the jacket for cycling and running on winter days.

Even when I am really working hard and sweaty I don’t feel too hot wearing the Gore jacket. It is also great at keeping out the wind, even on a typically blustery Scottish winter’s day.

So being seen and looking good on your bike this winter is a possibility.
