One of Great Britain’s most successful sports stars of all time will top the bill at the 2027 Thule Keswick Mountain Festival. Five-time Olympic gold medal winner Dame Laura Kenny will appear in a star-studded line-up of speakers when the event returns next year. Running from 21-23 May, the festival will also feature 18 sports events, live music, outdoor taster activities and exhibitors, and food and drink.
Founded in 2007, Keswick Mountain Festival (KMF) attracts thousands of visitors every year for its unique mix of activities and entertainment. The event’s heart will be the Festival Village in Crow Park, on the shore of Derwentwater, with a backdrop of the iconic Lake District fells. This year, a record number of around 25,000 people attended the three-day festival.
KMF organisers are aiming to build on that success for 2027 and have released details of a line-up of high profile speakers from the world of sport and the outdoors, headed up by cycling superstar Dame Laura and former 400m runner Derek Redmond, a world champion, Olympic hero and one of Britain's most inspiring athletes. Both will feature in special sessions in the Theatre By The Lake. Other big name speakers during the festival will include ultra running star Damian Hall, Paralympic legend Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Britain’s most successful high altitude mountaineer Alan Hinkes, endurance athlete Jenny Tough, award winning photographer David Miller, record breaking cycling father and son George and Josh Kohler, ‘Retirement Rebel’ Siobhan Daniels, ultra race icon Joe Faulkner, ‘Full House’ climber Laura Baillie, and cold water swimmer and adventurer Lindsey Cole.
As well as hearing speakers tell their own stories about sports and outdoor adventures, festival visitors will be able to take part in a full programme of trail runs, cycling sportives, triathlons, adventure races, open water swims and hikes. Senior and junior events will give participants the opportunity to spend time in the spectacular landscape that surrounds Keswick. Meanwhile, in the Festival Village, there will be a wide range of taster activities, along with exhibitors, and food and drink.
The main stage will host live music and DJ sets by acts such as Fleetwood Bac, Oasish, Badness and OMG It's the Church, plus local DJs Homegrown and local band The Kasios. Elsewhere in the Festival Village, entertainment will be on offer in the Campervan Live Lounge and the DJ Tent.
Details of more attractions at the 2027 Thule Keswick Mountain Festival will be released in the near future. Bookings for many events at the festival will open at 12:00 on Tuesday 6 October at www.keswickmountainfestival.co.uk, and other tickets will be available from November.
