I haven’t had much luck with walking trousers. Until now! I have finally found a pair of women’s walking trousers that fit nicely, stretch with my every move, don’t ride up or rub while I walk, even when I’m a bit sweaty – and actually look as good on the hills as they do at the pub. The trousers are made by one of my favourite brands, too, Arcteryx. (It’s just as well that I’ve found these trousers because for more than a decade I have been wearing a pair of Billabong outdoor trousers that are very, very threadbare, faded and have big tears at the leg ends. The G-Force has been moaning that they look very bad. Very bad indeed!) But the G-Force says he loves the look of the Arcteryx Gamma Walking Trousers – and he wishes he had a pair of the male version Arcteryx.
Tested tough is the hashtag Columbia use for their gear so we got a couple of pieces of their kit to take up the challenge.

I can’t say I’m much of a fan for waterproof trousers. It’s something we are often told to pack during Scouts and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and now outside of the awards it’s something I often have to remind myself to pack.
There has been speculation that we at My Outdoors can be ‘elitist’ when it comes to our gear reviews. This is not strictly true, the reviews we publish are from a variety of brands that produce gear of very high quality. However, we can only review gear that is made available for us. That said there are a lot of outdoor gear manufacturers producing gear that is affordable and of considerable quality. It is our goal at My Outdoors to bring our readers a sample from all of the brands available to us as outdoors goers.
