Berghaus is introducing a multi-layered range of new apparel For spring/summer 2020. Additions to the collection complement carryover styles and offer a wider range of lightweight and high performance shell, midlayer and baselayer garments for a summer in the outdoors. The range includes new men’s and women’s specific styles, with waterproofs, lightweight insulation, technical tees and the return of performance windshirts to Berghaus.
Performance shell - waterproofs
Building on the success of both its GORE-TEX® and Hydroshell® programmes, Berghaus is adding two high performance waterproof jackets to its summer range.
Men’s Paclite Peak Vented jacket (£180)
Lightweight, packable, durable and extremely breathable, the new Paclite Peak Vented jacket is designed for year-round use on the trails and hills when weight and space are key considerations. The combination of GORE-TEX® PACLITE® technology and expert Berghaus design delivers the ideal balance of guaranteed waterproof protection, breathability and freedom of movement. Features include: A fully adjustable hood; a water resistant YKK® centre front zip; hook and loop adjustable cuffs; dual adjustment at the hem; articulated elbows and darts for improved fit and freedom of movement; water resistant YKK® pit zips for added breathability when working hard; and two carefully positioned zipped pockets that can be accessed while wearing a pack.
The Paclite Peak Vented jacket has a PFC-free DWR, and is part of Berghaus’ MadeKind™ commitment to creating high-performance gear that’s kinder to the planet. The jacket weighs 339g (size large), is available in sizes XS-XXXL, and retails at £180.
Women’s Hyper 140 jacket (£170)
Ultra-light, waterproof and extremely breathable, the women’s Hyper 140 jacket is the brainchild of Berghaus’ MtnHaus™ innovation team. The Hyper 140 is made out of the brand’s own 3L Hydroshell® Elite fabric which has a hydrostatic head of 10,000mm per 24hrs and excellent breathability of 50,000g/m2/24hrs, making it ideal for moving fast on the hill when the weather turns. The ripstop face fabric is very tough for its weight and includes a PFC-free DWR. To minimise weight, the Hyper 140 incorporates only the essential features: A snug low-profile hood with bonded peak; a full water resistant YKK AquaGuard Vislon front zip; two zipped lower handwarmer pockets; and ergonomically bonded cuffs and sleeves for added protection.
The Hyper 140 weighs only 164g (size 12) and stashes neatly away into its own tiny stuff sac when not in use. The jacket is available in sizes 8-18 and retails at £170.
PERFORMANCE SHELL – WINDSHIRTS
Corbeck and Skerray (£70-£80)
Berghaus is adding lightweight men’s and women’s windshirts to its 2020 range. The men’s Corbeck Wind Smock and women’s Skerray Smock are both made out of a combination of windproof ripstop and plain weave polyamide fabrics, with a PFC-free DWR. These handy half-zip smocks feature hoods and stretch bound cuffs for extra protection, plus handy zipped kangaroo pockets that double up as stuff sacs when the tops aren’t being used.
The Corbeck Wind Smock weighs in at only 192g (size large), is available in sizes XS-XXXL and retails at £75. The Skerray Smock weighs 188g (size 12), is available in sizes 8-20 and retails at £70. The windproof range also includes the full zip Corbeck Wind Jacket with two zipped handwarmer pockets and an inside pocket that doubles as a stuff sac. The jacket weighs 220g (size large), is available in sizes XS-XXXL and retails at £80.
Men’s Theran Hoody (£60)
New for summer 2020, the men’s Theran Hoody is a high performance transitional midlayer that delivers highly effective lightweight insulation and sun protection. This extremely versatile garment offers a thin layer of warmth when the temperature dips or the wind gets up. The stretchy and breathable polyamide and elastane fabric allows for great freedom of movement, with added protection from the elements thanks to a PFC-free DWR, UPF of 50+, and the snug stretch bound hood and cuffs. The generous front half zip means that the Theran is easy to put on and take off, while the zipped front kangaroo pocket doubles as a useful stuff sac.
Berghaus athlete Leo Houlding and his team took Therans with them to Guyana for their recent expedition to Roraima. Leo returned with a glowing report on the product, singing its praises as an outstanding lightweight midlayer that he used during every day of the trip. The Theran Hoody weighs 290g (size large), is available in sizes XS-XXXL and retails at £60.
Women’s Taagan jacket (£70)
Versatile and lightweight, the new women’s Taagen jacket provides lightweight year-round insulation and excellent freedom of movement. The polyester and elastane fleece fabric has been carefully cut for active use on the trails and hills, on its own or combined with a shell jacket. Features include two zipped lower handwarmer pockets and a brushed backing to the fleece for added comfort. The Taagen jacket weighs 377g (size 12), is available in sizes 8-20 and retails at £70.
Berghaus has added two tees to its technical baselayer range for 2020. The men’s and women’s 24/7 Tech Tee SS Crew are both made out of high performance Berghaus ARGENTIUM™ fabric. ARGENTIUM™ is lightweight, quick wicking and drying, odour-resistant, highly breathable and very stretchy. The 24/7 Tech Tees have been designed to give a close fit, with flat locked seams for added comfort, especially when used as part of a layering system and with a pack.
Ideal for warm weather outdoor activities, the tees also provide sun protection with a UPF of 30. The men’s 24/7 Tech Tee SS Crew weighs 130g (size large), is available in sizes XS-XXXL and retails at £25. The women’s 24/7 Tech Tee SS Crew weighs 130g (size 12), is available in size 8-20 and retails at £25.
