Make Tick Awareness a Priority this Easter Says Craghoppers

Written by

With Lyme Disease Awareness Month this May a timely reminder, leading outdoor clothing brand Craghoppers who has the world's only permanent insect repellent clothing, is urging Brits to keep tick bite prevention at the top of the list when venturing to the countryside this spring.

Easter is just around the corner and many will be thinking of heading to the countryside during the school holidays to make the most of the warmer weather. However with ticks being notorious in rural locations, Craghoppers is reminding those planning camping breaks or days out in the British countryside to be tick aware and make protection a priority when spending time in areas where ticks can be a major (and potentially deadly) nuisance.

Craghoppers' NosiLife offers the following benefits against biting insects including ticks, mosquitoes and midges:

·                     Up to 80-90% reduction in actual bites

·                     Up to 90% effective in repelling blood feeding

·                     UPF 40+ protection from UV rays

·                     Anti-bacterial treatment for freshness

·                     Non-toxic and non-irritant

·                     Moisture Control technology to keep cool in hot climates

·                     NosiLife treatment is permanent and won't wash out

Last year scientists from Bristol University discovered more than 300 ticks living in just one square metre of British urban park land, increasing the risk of deadly illnesses such as Lyme Disease.*

Insects such as ticks are notoriously common in rural locations and being bitten can lead to serious medical implications if left untreated such as a bacterial infection called Lyme disease (Borreliosis), which without prompt diagnosis and treatment can lead to severe heart and nervous system problems.

According to reports the number of confirmed cases of Lyme disease has increased in recent years, with cases having risen from about 200 in the late 1990s, to 1,200 in 2013 - with the actual number of cases estimated at three times that.**
