Berghaus builds support with outdoor centres

Written by

Berghaus has continued to build its support for the specialist outdoor retail sector with a special event at the Outward Bound Trust’s centre on Ullswater.

The brand hosted representatives from key stores around the UK for two days of product workshops and outdoor activities. Run in partnership with the trust and Grangers, over 30 people attended the event, and had the opportunity to test the latest Berghaus products, while spending time with representatives from the sales and product teams.

Berghaus organised the special event for retailers ahead of the autumn/winter season. The programme included walking and scrambling, and an evening that focused on product development. After a short walk on day one, followed by the Outward Bound Trust’s traditional ‘jog and dip’, Berghaus’ senior pack designer Joe O’Connell led a session that explored the details of new technologies and products in the range, including core lines in the brand’s more technical Extrem and Trail collections. Tim Franic from Grangers then spoke to guests about the latest developments in its leading care products. Both Joe and Tim were able to provide insights and advice to help retail representatives when engaging with consumers in store.

On day two, event participants were given the option of choosing one of four walking and scrambling routes, each of which was led by Outward Bound Trust instructors. Between them, the groups spent theday on and around Helvellyn, Catstycam and St Sunday Crag. The retail representatives were all given a Trail pack and Extrem jacket to test and take home. Following a full day on the fells, guests spent an evening back at the trust’s Ullswater centre, networking with the Berghaus team and each other. As well as the Berghaus kit, they were given a Grangers goody bag at the end of the event.

Berghaus UK field sales manager Kris Gray comments: “We were delighted with the response to this event. Away from day-to-day business, it was a rare opportunity for Berghaus to spend high quality time with some of our most important specialist retailers. It was great to dive into some real detail about our latest products and receive some invaluable feedback. In turn, I hope that we were able to provide the kind of insights that will help our specialist retail partners sell the kit in store. We’re really grateful to the Outward Bound Trust for enabling us to host the event in such a stunning location and assisting us in running it, and to Tim from Grangers for making an important contribution too.”

Retailers that were represented at the Berghaus event included LD Mountain Centre, Tiso, Nevisport, Gaynor Sports, George Fisher, Adapt Outdoors, Great Western Camping, No Man’s Land, and Ultralight Outdoor Gear.
