Black Friday Goes Green for British Outdoor Brand Montane

Written by

Black Friday events are known for big markdowns and heavy promotions but this year, outdoor performance specialist, Montane, is donating the entirety of its Black Friday marketing budget to the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA).

In a bid to champion social sustainability and support vital conservation work around the world, Montane will be donating a total sum of €5,000 to the EOCA. The outdoor brand aims to continue the campaign year-on-year, encouraging more and more businesses to turn green.

The initiative, which is synonyms with Montane’s ‘Further. Forever.’ ethos, highlights the need to reflect, consider, and protect the wild and extreme environments around us, ensuring the survival and ongoing maintenance of these places for people to enjoy.

Montane’s Global Marketing Manager, Matthew Hickman, commented: “Throughout the year, Montane is committed to working with suppliers and organisations to limit the impact of the products we produce, so we wanted to use this opportunity – the platform of Black Friday – to take a step back and make a difference. Through our Black Friday donation to the European Outdoor Conservation Association and our partnership with the British Mountaineering Council, we’re doing what we can to help protect the landscapes that we, and many others, cherish for future generations to come.

“Working in synergy with our ‘Further. Forever.’ ethos and specifically focusing on our ‘built to last’ promise, we want to encourage anyone who is planning to make purchases over the coming days to shop sustainably and buy consciously.”

The donation from Montane will go towards conservation projects, including EOCA’s six recently selected projects, tackling plastic pollution in the environment and at source, in Spain, Italy, Brazil, Columbia, and the UK.

Since the company’s founding in 1993, Montane has been providing innovative, lightweight, and breathable clothing and equipment for endurance sports and activities in some of the world’s toughest, most extreme environments.

Montane aims to achieve the highest standards of performance in its products at the same time as maintaining a responsible approach to its business. From reducing the environmental impact of the materials used, to demanding the highest ethical standards in its supply chain, Montane’s resolute commitment towards sustainability and environmentally practice is ongoing.
