Ourea Events secures major tourism award for Salomon Skyline Scotland

Written by

Mountain running events company Ourea Events is celebrating after securing a major tourism award in Scotland. Based in the Lake District, the Ourea team organises races throughout the UK and won the Best Sporting Event category in the recent Scottish Thistle Awards final, for Salomon Skyline Scotland 2018.

Founded in 2012 by Shane Ohly, Ourea Events has a portfolio of challenging off-road mountain running events in the UK, including iconic multi-day races such as the Berghaus Dragon’s Back Race and Cape Wrath Ultra. Building on the success of the inaugural Salomon Glen Coe Skyline race in 2015, Salomon Skyline Scotland has grown into a two-day festival of skyrunning and trail running races in the Scottish Highlands in September. The eight-strong Ourea team manages the event and recently announced details of an expanded programme for 2020.

The 2019/20 Scottish Thistle Awards, in association with Fishers, celebrate hotels, restaurants, B&Bs, visitor attractions, business and consumer events, along with individuals going above and beyond to create a destination and visitor experience. The national final was held last week at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, where 470 people gathered to see 18 individuals, businesses and events honoured for their contribution to the tourism sector.
