In the interview he talks about the importance of the company’s relationship with their manufacturing partners in Columbia which started 30 years. Over the last 30 years what started as a single nun with a sewing machine has grown enormously to a point where it’s seen the sale of Paramo garments put 10,000 women through the Miquelina Foundation.
In 2022 Paramo founder Nick Brown decided to sell the company to an Employee Ownership Trust with the 150 Bogota based workers joining the European and US workers as partner owners. Richard talks through the issues of running a social enterprise alongside a commercial business. Looking ahead he talks of how the company plans to expand and move forward while retaining its ethical and environmental values.
