Shauna Coxsey awarded MBE in Queen's Birthday Honours

British climber Shauna Coxsey has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's 90th Birthday Honours, with the announcement coming on the same weekend that could see her tie up the IFSC Bouldering World Cup.

Listed as "Climbing Champion, For Services to climbing" the award comes as the Runcorn based climber competes in Vail, Colorado with this years World Cup overall title almost guaranteed following an incredible season. Ending the 2015 season with a win Shauna started 2016 with a run of three golds in the first three events of the season and after a single slip in the fourth event returned to winning ways in Innsbruck to almosat guarantee the title.

In 2014 Shauna became the first British, and third in the World, woman to climb 8B+and along with her competition success Shauna Coxsey has also been instrumental in the #thisgirlcan campaign to raise the profile and expectations of women in sport. As a founder of the successful Women's Climbing Symposium and trustee of Climbers Against Cancer, Shauna has  become one of the most recognisable and influential athletes UK climbing has ever produced. Not content with her suport of women's climbing Shauna has also been a strong supporter of young people getting outdoors, with personal appearances at the Young Adventurers Awards.
