Downtown Camper is the perfect city basecamp for travellers who like to mix the urban with outdoors adventure. A focus on health, sustainability and wellbeing offers guests a new hotel experience in this most cool of capital cities.
Located in one of Stockholm’s more unexplored neighbourhoods, Brunkebergstorg, the 494 bedroom hotel opened this autumn. The city centre base is walking distance from Sergels Torg square, the Royal Swedish Opera, the Royal Palace, and the Central Train Station. But why walk when guests can borrow complementary bikes, walking poles, longboards, skateboards, kayaks and sportswear to explore the sights of Stockholm.
And the focus on lifestyle doesn’t end there. Back at the hotel, yoga classes are held on a regular basis, alongside inspirational lectures with subjects such as ‘Body Awareness’ and ‘Mental and Emotional Wellbeing’.
Guests can even join the hotel’s hand-picked Lifestyle Concierge on a morning run! Australian, Kristian Hell, is the “Mr Know-It-All” of Stockholm and his wisdom offers unique opportunities to discover something unexpected about the city - whether a runner, or not - including hidden urban gems, outdoor city adventures and rooftop experiences.
After an adventurous day exploring the city, guests are welcomed into The Nest - the hotel’s rooftop spa with astonishing views over Stockholm. This wellness area with sauna, gym, experience showers and a heated swimming pool gives residents the chance to relax with a freshly squeezed juice.
And once out of their swimwear and into dinner attire, the hotel’s Campfire Restaurant features a welcoming open fireplace where residents can gather to enjoy comfort food from around the world. The menu includes ingredients from the Swedish forest - following the changing seasons. And the next morning, guests will be treated to an organic-certified breakfast buffet that includes gluten and lactose free options.
The social nature of the Downtown Camper reveals a completely new room category where up to 12 guests can stay together. The Camper co-Living concept joins bedrooms together with a communal space, offering a social hotel experience for large groups of friends or family. Alternatively, guests can choose between Cozy, Classic, Spacious or Grande rooms; alongside nine generous suites with stunning views of the city.
The hotel’s design merges a playful interior inspired by nature together with the concrete jungle of the urban surroundings. It’s designed to provide opportunity for spontaneous interaction and togetherness including a Games Room, two meeting rooms and a 25 seater ‘Nightwood’ cinema where residents can discover Downtown Talks. A program of illuminating and engaging talks that take place every Wednesday featuring topics which touch on innovation, sustainability, entrepreneurship and social responsibility.
Jacob Dahlberg, General Manager of Downtown Camper, says, “We’ve created a hotel for the curious traveler who not only wants unique experiences, but also contributes to creating them. Today, people want it all. To enjoy the tranquility of nature, and live in the city. Downtown Camper brings two worlds together”.
