By launching the Finisterre Foundation, the brand will be able to make a real difference in championing equal access to the ocean for all, buoyed by an anti-Black Friday campaign to help fund pioneering schemes such as ‘The Wetsuit Project’.
- Finisterre turn Black Friday, blue. Shunning the biggest sales event of the year to support equal access to the ocean for everyone.
- £2.50 from each purchase on Blue Friday and the Cyber Weekend will be donated to the newly founded Finisterre Foundation Community Interest Company (CIC).
- Donated funds will directly support ‘The Wetsuit Project’
The latest milestone aligned to the company’s founding principles; access for everyone to enjoy our coastal playgrounds is instrumental in helping more people recognise the role our ocean plays as the blue heart of our planet, and our greatest chance to tackle the global climate crisis.
Removing the barriers to access so everyone can benefit from the transformative power of the ocean, the Finisterre Foundation will encourage, empower, and enable people to connect with the sea to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. Whilst also providing grants to support small scale charitable projects, primarily in the UK, alongside the time, skills, and equipment to support the foundation’s mission.
To accelerate the positive impact the foundation is confident in achieving, this November Finisterre will be turning Black Friday, Blue. Giving back to the foundation by donating £2.50 of every order placed over the Black Friday Weekend (26th-29th) instead of offering discounts. These restricted funds pledged towards one of the Foundation’s inaugural projects, ‘The Wetsuit Project’, that will fund alterations to wetsuits to improve accessibility to the ocean.
“Making Andrew’s film it really dawned on me how, for so many people, wetsuits are a barrier to getting in the sea. So, I’m incredibly proud to be doing something about this by supporting the Finisterre Foundation Wetsuit Project this Blue Friday; funding the adaption of any wetsuit in the hope of making a big and immediate difference to people’s ability to get in the sea. I cannot wait to see how it goes, and who knows, maybe the industry will take notice and do something too…” Tom Kay: Director, Finisterre Foundation CIC
