#DolomitesVives: shows, emotions and sustainability on stage at the Sella Pass

Every Wednesday in July and August, the Val di Fassa is hosting a series of events and shows with music, theatre, sport and food. The events will be inaugurated by Reinhold Messner and for these special occasions, the Sella pass will be reachable by “zero-impact” modes of transport only.

On the 5th July, Reinhold Messner, the world famous mountaineer, will start a new loop of green-style events “Dolomites Vives”. The events are the result of the job of the participants to the “Interprovincial table for the Dolomites passes” (which includes the Provinces of Trento and Bolzano along with the local Comun General de Fascia and the municipalities of Canazei, Selva Val Gardena and the tourist boards of Val di Fassa, Val Gardena and Alta Badia).

Every Wednesday in July and August, the Città dei Sassi (City of rocks) at the Sella pass will be the venue for concerts and shows hosting international artists in addition to workshops and meetings with sport champions such as Francesco Moser and Maurizio Fondriest. But that's not all, participants can enjoy delicious tasting of several Michelin-starred chefs. The venue will be accessible only by sustainable means: cable cars, public transport, bikes and guided excursions. The streets will be closed to cars starting from 9 am to 4 pm, each 15 minutes from Pian de Schiavaneis a shuttle bus is available for those who want to reach the location of the everts.

During the summer, the public transport will be boosted with two new bus lines to the passes Sella and Pordoi. For years, the Val di Fassa has fostered an eco-friendly mobility policy - encouraging its guests to use public and sustainable modes of transport withcable cars becoming particularly convenient with the card Panoramapass (42 thousand sold in summer 2016).

The experimental project #DolomitesVives aims to enhance a zero-impact enjoyment of the area, as underlined by the provincial council member Mauro Gilmozzi and his colleagues Richard Theiner and Florian Mussner: "We are proud of this project, result of a feasibility study and a specific law, but above all, of the collaboration and the willingness of the local authorities; the provinces, the mayors and stakeholders that took part in the project. The valleys around the Sella, like the provinces rose to the challenge making their know-how available, transforming the public transport and realizing infrastructures meant to improve sustainable mobility. On the passes we want more people and less cars".
