The Mammut Foraker isn't the first attempt someone's made at a multi purpose jacket that tries to balance breathability, wind resistance and a little insulation and previously we've always found the balance to be somewhat compromised either towards insulation or towards breathability. The Foraker, however, has almost become a "go to" jacket almost unnoticed. It doesn't wow you with anything in particular but the combination works in the real world. The flexibility of the stretch arms and side panels make it ideal for early spring/late autumn scrambles while the insulated core is perfect for mountain biking in Chamonix in September. The double weave softshell is soft against the skin, makes it ideal for chilly morning runs over a short sleeve base layer but unlike other hybrid's we've tried the chances are you'll still be wearing the same jacket at the end of the day.
