2022 Cape Wrath Ultra - day two round up

Written by

On day two of the 2022 Cape Wrath Ultra, the runners headed into Knoydart as they tackled 54.1km of wild, rough terrain.

Wet weather in the morning cleared up in the afternoon, revealing the spectacular scenery of the sea lochs and the mountains as the competitors made their way towards Kinloch Hourn.

Simon Roberts retained his overall lead and was first man on the day, but also sustained a knee injury on the course and spent time in the medical tent when he got into camp.

Laura O’Driscoll also stayed out in front in the women’s race and looked strong as she negotiated a particularly tricky muddy descent. Laura commented: “That’s a tough day – a lot tougher than the prologue. I’m not too bad. My toes are a bit sore, but you can’t really move that fast through the bogs, so hopefully that will help my legs.”
