Ben Nevis Skyline returns to showcase Scotland

Written by

After a year’s break, the world-renowned Salomon Skyline Scotland® returns on Saturday 20th September 2025, bringing one of the most exciting trail and mountain running spectacles back to the Scottish Highlands.

Hosted at its new location at the Nevis Range, Fort William, this year’s event promises to be the biggest yet, featuring seven new thrilling races in just one day.

The Ben Nevis Skyline takes its rightful place on the world stage in 2025, cementing Scotland’s reputation as one of the most iconic destinations in mountain sport. The route features the summit of Ben Nevis itself (1,345m), the dramatic Càrn Mòr Dearg Arete classified grade 1 scramble, and a thrilling descent via the Blue Doon MTB track – a world-class challenge in the heart of the Highlands.

“We’re proud to welcome the world’s best trail runners back to the Highlands,” said Shane Ohly Event Director of Salomon Skyline Scotland. “This event is more than just a few races – it’s a celebration of Scotland’s mountains, the community we’ve built, and the global trail running spirit.”

Festival Weekend Highlights

Friday 19th September sets the tone with a vibrant programme of community and athlete events. At 16:15, Red Bull kick things off with a Shakeout Run on the local trails. At 17:30, fans can hear from the sport’s stars during an Elite Athlete Panel Talk. Closing the night, at 18:30, Salomon and Ellis Brigham will host a second Shakeout Run. This will be followed by a relaxed evening in the Salomon Zone – the perfect chance to meet like-minded runners.

On Saturday 20th September, the Event Village opens from 06:00, buzzing with food stalls, brand activations, and the start and finish of most races. Throughout the day, supporters can join the Cheer Zones at the Snowgoose Café, with Red Bull and Salomon bringing the noise. Supporters who arrive between 10:00–11:00 or 14:00–15:00 will even receive a free Salomon Cow Bell to help lift the athletes as they charge through.

“Salomon is excited to be back in the Scottish Highlands, where the sport of Trail Running really comes alive! The racing at Skyline Scotland is raw and demanding with routes and terrain unique to the racing calendar, and we can’t wait to share it with the athletes and spectators who make this event so special.”  commented Dominic McKee, Salomon Influencer and Events Marketing Executive.
